Swiss luxury watchmaker Franck Muller has announced an official AC/DC watch.
The Vanguard AC/DC 50th Anniversary watch celebrates five decades of AC/DC legend and is available in steel and black versions.
Available in polished stainless steel and brushed titanium with a black PVD treatment, Franck Muller describes the watch as follows:
This horological masterpiece features a sleek and distinctive 43mm tonneau case that embodies Franck Muller’s design philosophy and is powered by an automatic movement with a date window at 6 o’clock, representing the pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking excellence.
"The dial is an artistic tribute to the enduring spirit of AC/DC, adorned with iconic Franck Muller numerals, meticulously hand-painted by the Swiss watchmaker’s artisans. Infused with timeless elegance, the numerals are finished in the iconic red hue that inspired the first lightning bolt logo in 1974, in keeping with AC/DC’s heritage.
'Dig deeper into the dial’s intricate details and you’ll discover the story of the band’s extraordinary journey. The black centre of the dial showcases an engraving resembling a vinyl record, reminiscent of their groundbreaking debut album ‘High Voltage’, released in 1975. Atop the vinyl record, six guitar strings accented in silver take centre stage, symbolising the stirring chords that have echoed for fifty years. Inspired by the legendary Gibson guitar played by Angus Young, whose energetic performances and iconic stage costumes have become the essence of AC/DC, this detail pays homage to his electrifying on-stage presence.
"With the addition of the ‘50th Anniversary’ tagline beneath the logo, these limited edition watches celebrate the golden jubilee in style. This emblem exudes luxury and embodies the band’s rock and roll spirit, making this Swiss masterpiece an indispensable accessory for the band’s loyal fans.
“The watches are presented in a flight box that recalls AC/DC’s stage presence, in true rock and roll style, symbolizing the band’s savoir faire of unforgettable live performances and extensive concert tours that have entertained audiences around the world for decades. The flight box comes in a drawstring bag.”
